Being successful in racing is completely reliant on understanding and mastering the basics. If you don’t have the proper approach to building, tuning and racing you will simply spend money with little results. Neil’s success in this arena makes him uniquely qualified to give you this ‘Why-To’ guide to winning. Neil shares his techniques and more importantly, his reasons for why you need to approach things a certain way. Rarely does a technical book in the motorsports field so adequately cover the topic from this angle. Typically the mantra is to simply tell the reader what to do rather than truly educate them to think for themselves. This book is that rare text that not only educates, but also provides understanding.

Think Fast The Racer WhyTo Guide to Winning Neil Roberts eBook Reviews
I have been racing for nearly 50 years and I still learned a lot. A different and important perspective that every racer should read.
Thanks ... Jay Novak
While I have learned a few things from this book, it seems like most of it is already covered in Carroll Smith's books. Not much new material in it, especially considering it is about 30-40 years more modern than Smith's books. I think Texas A&M are probably the best Formula SAE team of all time, and Mr. Roberts probably played a significant role in this. Despite this, I find there are way to many generalizations that while may be appropriate for road racing type cars, are not appropriate for FSAE.
Great book with excellent info presented in a clear way. If you race, you need this book.
This is an excellent book that covers the "why-to" versus the "how-to". Roberts assumes you have read the Carroll Smith "To Win" series of books, and it is necessary that you do so to get the most from this book. Roberts is very effective at provoking thought of how to apply professional level racing practices to an amateur level. The peer-to-peer style of writing makes for an easy read, and bridges the gap between thinking like a driver and thinking like an engineer.
Great book for new and experienced racers, or anyone wanting a better understanding of your car and performance driving.
"Think Fast" book was very easy to read and understand the principles behind why a car does what it does.
I bought the book (along with several competing books) because I was trying to redesign the suspension on my racecar. It is no longer a street vehicle, so I was trying to remove the 'street handling' characteristics. I found that Neil presented a clear path to help me with this, beyond the theory and numbers seen in other texts.
In fact, if you want to become a better driver period, dollar for dollar this is THE best investment you will ever make.
