LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED!!!!! Did not want this book to end!!! Read the whole thing in five hours!!!! This was one of the best romance books I have ever read!! The whole time you could tell there was gonna be some twist that would throw a wrench in the typical "flawless" romance but I never saw that one coming!!!! What an AMAZING story!!!!

This one started out really good, but became predictable and juvenile. I am not sure if it is rated NA or YA, but it will appeal to the 15-20 year old reader, but be too juvenile for the older reader. If you liked After Math (Off the Subject) by Denise Grover Swank or Dante's Girl (The Paradise Diaries) by Courtney Cole, you will like this one.

Autumn and Blake meet at a college party and he is rude to her, making her uncomfortable that she leaves. The next day, she discovers she has a class with him and he invites her to sit with him. Blake is the star running back for the football team and is considered a god for all the wins he has created by his playing. He is coveted by the ladies and Autumn is given dirty looks as she and Blake become friends. And that is all they are at first as Autumn has sworn off men and Blake keeps her at a distance. After several weeks of crossed signals, they argue and separate because Blake assures her he will only hurt her in the end.

Confused, but strong, Autumn moves on and goes to another party where Blake shows up and sees her talking with another guy. He corners her and declares that he wants her and they become a couple, but both have secrets from their pasts that, when revealed, will call into question their motivations and true feelings.

So Autumn's issues are revealed fairly early on, but Blake's secrets are left for the ending's "big reveal - conflict". Unfortunately, he secret is easy to figure out at the 53% mark and it becomes somewhat anti-climatic to read until it is finally revealed. There is some repetitiveness in Autumn's inner dialogue that fills space, and some juvenile hysterics that don't make sense when the secret is revealed. It is the same story of boy keeping something from girl, knowing he should reveal it and just when he is about to, something/one does it for him and casts him into the untrustworthy zone. Like I said, those under 20 will find this more relatable.

Autumn Dorey ran away to college. She left her town behind and the awful rumors that tormented her. She was tired of dealing with what happened in the last few years before she finished high school. Her friends and boyfriend had turned on her and she had become an outcast. However, this girl is determined to reinvent herself and dedicate her school years to study. She especially wants to stay clear from the football gods.

Blake Preston is the football running back star for Cook University. He is not only a football god but he is also the hottest guy that everyone wants. When he meets Autumn he seems to be angry at her but later on he is always wanting to spend more time with her.

It doesn't take long for them to discover they want more than friendship but secrets have a funny way of resurfacing when you least expect it. The question is can their relationship survive it?

“Things from before that I can’t tell you. I should tell you, but I don’t want it to ruin everything. Because it feels like what we have is fragile and the more you get to know about me, the more likely it will all shatter.”

Autumn is a very interesting character. She has been hurt and bullied to the point of rock bottom. I like that she had an open communication with her parents to what happened to her. Both parents were very supportive of her and her mother's advise at the end really surprised me. It made me like her even more.
Blake was a loyal guy despite having an awful mother. I could see the struggle he faced and even though, I'm not happy he kept the secret for too long, I understood why he was so frightened to reveal it.
I loved when Blake dealt with the high school bullies especially Autumn's ex. A fist pump was in order.
I'm very happy with the ending and there was no cliffhanger.

I was greatly surprised with the love story of Blake and Autumn. It was a fantastic read which involved two people whose past would have dictated that they would never fall in love. Without spoiling the story, Autumn and Blake face a tough decision in forgiveness and allowing themselves a chance at love and a happily ever after. I loved the dialogue between Blake and Autumn and Autumn and her Mom. "I'm happy because I wake up knowing I'm right where I'm supposed to be" and "I want to be the kind of man that gives someone as incredible as you a reason to smile." These were my favorite lines from the book. Although the underlying subject matter of the book is meant to send a message of hope and awareness, I am impressed the author is able to convey it without detracting her true message of love conquers all.
