This book is difficult to review.

The concept is so fresh that it’s very enticing. It gets more and more interesting the further I read. However, my captivation doesn’t begin until approximately 1/4 of the way in.

There is too much timeline jumping too quickly in the beginning of the book. I find it confusing, and difficult to acclimate to a story that jumps around from the start. I really wish that Author Lauren James had provided a longer intro to each time period.

I am much happier with the rest of the story. It is mesmerizing to meet Kathryn and Matthew throughout each of their incarnations.

There are a few things that remain unanswered, and I feel that it makes the ending a bit weak. I like this book but feel that it could be so much better. 3 3/4 Stars

Wonderful and innovative book!
Inciteful, intelligent read for young adults and beyond. Looking forward to more!
I loved it. I really did. I got slightly confused by all the Matthews and all the Katherines, but I did love it. An intriguing take on timeslip fiction, or historical fiction, or time travel fiction - its all a mash up really.
The descriptions are beautiful. The author is highly talented. Please don't let my confusion put you off reading this book! It was quite different reading about the Crimean War instead of WWII or WWI. And a refreshingly different viewpoint on the Jacobite uprising.
So yes, I can easily recommend this book.
Hideously written, boring and very uninteresting.
This book has so much potential, the incarnation, thier importance, monitoring, importance of clove but its falls flat in the end.
I really enjoyed it until the last chapter
Interesting concept. Once I became accustomed to the jumping between time periods I started to enjoy the tale. I wanted to know why Katherine and Matthew were drawn to each other.

Very engaging plot and an easy read. Although it had some weak spots (the dialogue tended to read too modern in some of the historical scenes, and one twist was awfully close to the heart of the early Outlander novels) it was interesting enough that I kept reading, which is saying a lot for me. You'll like the main characters and root for them.
